One project we wish to start is community development in villages near Samuel's House to help the poor and needy people in these villages. We went to visit 2 potential families in one village to look at their living conditions and find out what are their needs. The first family has a room to live in but has to share the toilet shed with others. The toilet shed is built on lower ground so it gets flooded during heavy rain and is impossible to use. This family does not have room for a kitchen so they cook just outside their room in open air. The second family has a little hut. The lady in this family is disabled and her husband is doing odd jobs to earn a living. Their hut has cardboard and paper walls because they cannot afford timber. The poor living condition and lack of food is also causing their young daughter to be hospitalised frequently.
