We went to an elephant centre when Elly and Heeseon were in Phayak. The elephant centre is located in the world famous Surin town, where an annual elephant festival is held in November and attended by many all over the world. Elephants are well revered in Thailand and an important symbol in this country. It's good to see that these elephants are protected but sad to see that they are pretty much chained to one spot most of the day. You can buy a bunch of bananas to feed them during your visit or go for a ride on them.
