You might wonder what is so special about the toilet that it deserves a space on our travel blog...Notice the BIG blue bin beside the toilet? It is for used toilet paper. In Peru (and most of South America), used toilet paper can't be flushed down the toilet or you risk flooding the whole system in the house! Apparently, the Cusco toilet system can't handle used toilet paper - only human waste...The BIG blue bin gets emptied out once it gets full (or stink really badly). We have been diligent with throwing the used toilet paper into the BIG blue bin because we rather have a stinky toilet than a flooded toilet (with bits floating around)...
