Over the weekend, we witnessed a 'coming of age' ceremony. A local Pumamarca family invited Mark (our volunteer manager) to perform the ceremony, and a few of us were very very privileged to witness this special occasion. Mark was asked to cut the hair of a little girl, Racquel. She is six and it's her first time having a hair cut. This action signifies her coming of age in the community. The family invited Mark to perform this important task as a sign of their trust in him and acceptance of him into the family. Mark did a fantastic job and Racquel just loves her new hairstyle!
