Pumamarca school is located up the mountain and kids from the nearly villages up in the mountain go to the school. These kids used to walk 2 hours to school down in the valley (where we stay) before Pumamarca school was available. Today, we decided to walk/bike up to the school. Alvin biked up with a mountain bike whereas I walked up. He took 45 mins while I took an hour 15 mins to get to school. I won't say it's an easy walk/bike since you are ascending all the time and the air is thin and cold in the morning. Can you imagine the kids doing this everyday just to get to school? When it rains, the road is also very muddy. However, the views were fantastic. I have also included some photos of the village we passed on the way to school to show you how they live up in the mountain. Houses are built from mud bricks and they farm for food. The people are extremely friendly.
